Room 2

Mr Eru Mita

Room 2

Caring, Talented, funny, creative

All these words describe Room 2 - Te Ahurutanga. We have a great teacher he’s funny, smart and really good at art, Mr Eru Mita. He strives to make learning easy for all children, he is really friendly and is also very funny

We also have a great kiawhina, Mr Mike Kara. He takes road patrol (something else special to Room 2)and takes the year 7 rock bands and plays guitar.

Te Ahurutanga means the sanctuary - a safe place for children.

Girls Cricket

Three girls from our class (Juniper, Teiria Mariana) were lucky enough to make it into the Whakatane Intermediate girls cricket team who were about to play their first game against Tauranga intermediate girls team   ,

The girls travelled over to Tauranga, A long and exciting game, sadly the girls lost harshly, but the girls had a blast over in Tauranga - oh well better luck next time!.

Swimming Sports

The whole school had a blast down at the Whakatane aquatic Center.

Room 2 had one very very successful boy - John Clark, he made it into all the finals but just missed out on first, but finishing with a well deserved second, other students came out with 1st and 2nd and 3rd ‘s in their heats so everyone had a fabulous day down at the pools

Room 2 Surfing Day!

Tuesday 13th of March, Room 2 had a fabulous hot sunny day down at the Salt Spray Surf School, West End. After packing up we were sorted into cars and off we went.

We were greeted by our instructor’s (Beaver) smiling face with equipment set up on the grass he led us over to the mat

We had a quick lecture on how to look after the beach, be safe around equipment, and most of all…….. HAVE FUN!!!!!!

After some wacky warm ups helping to learn to surf we hit the water! Girls and boys were split into different groups girls got to surf first and boys got to swim!

We had an absolutely beautiful fun sunny day, caught some mean waves and learnt how to surf, but most of all….. SO MUCH HAD FUN!!!!!!!!.

Touch

On the 23rd of March a big group of children from our class and other classes went to the inter-Intermediate touch tournament

It was a fun day and there was a lot of cheering for teams there were many tries scored, all the teams had around four games so everyone had fair turns

Sadly none of the teams came back with a trophy but it was a really great day
