In technology, students explore how people intervene in the world by developing products, systems and environments to expand their possibilities.

Whakatane Intermediate Offers the following technology subjects thought by specialist teachers

 

• Food Technology
• Soft Materials,
• Hard Materials,
• Electronics
• Biotechnology

 

Each year students will attend approximately 10 consecutive sessions at each technology.

 

They will be involved in

 

• Establishing and developing a base line of practical skills
• Fostering teamwork and independence
• Developing safe working habits and a safety conscience
• Evaluating their own work, realistically and learning from their own experiences.
• Problem Solving and design using technology
• Acquiring knowledge and skills to take some responsibility for health and security now and in the future.
