Gisborne Exchange

Each year Whakatane Intermediate and Gisborne Intermediate participate in an elite Sports and academic exchange. The schools take it in turn to travel and this year our students were hosted by Gisborne Intermediate Students.

Teams compete in rugby (various weight classes), Netball, Soccer, Hockey and Basketball and on the academic front Maths Challenge, Debating and Literacy Quiz are also represented.

The rivalry between the schools from the principals to the students participating is fierce.

The results from this years exchange show we had a strong academic focus as our Maths Challenge, Literacy Quiz and Debating Teams were also successful.

On the sporting front we were not as successful with only the Year 8 Netball team coming out on top.

Watch out Gisborne – 2012 will be our year.
