Open Water Swim

Inter-Intermediate Open 2km swim

On Friday the first of April (last term) the Inter-Intermediate Bop/Poverty Bay 2km swim was held down at Lake Rotoma. Schools from Taupo, Rotorua, Tauranga, Mt Manganui, Illminster, Gisborne and our school Whakatane Intermediate participated in swimming the competition. Each race took at least 45 minutes.

People from our school who attended this competition were: Cian Harte, John Clark, Ngahuia Muru, Caitlin Burp Polai, Mereana Barsdell, Amber Verco, Leon McAdams, Alexa Madrtitch and I Laura Bockman.

The winning teams for overall points were:

1st: Taupo

2nd: Mount Manganui

3rd: Tauranga.

The results for our school (Whakatane intermediate) were:

1st: John Clark yr 7 boys

3rd: Ngahuia Muru yr 8 girls

4th: Laura Bockman yr 7 girls
