House Captains

House Groups

At Whakatane Intermediate we have a house system that collects points earned during the week by students doing great things. In class we add up all our points and a house captain comes and collects the scores. In our auditorium we have a chart that shows the placings of each house.

On Friday at formal assembly we are informed which is the winning house for that week and more points are then added to the chart.

We have four house’s.

Tainui which is Red.

Mataatua which is Blue.

Te Arawa which is Yellow.

Aotea which is Green.

For each house we have two house captains and two deputies. Their responsibilities are collecting house points, organising special teams for representing their house and leading their house during competitions.

We also have special events where you can earn more house points such as swimming sports, athletics and cross country.

At the end of the year one house group is announced as the winning house for the year.
